19 Apr Spy-Fishing for Science
Brittany Barbara, a biologist with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), deploys a baited platform equipped with GoPro cameras to “spy” on fish living in rare hard-bottom habitats in Tampa Bay. The stinky bait attracts fish to come within camera range, giving scientists a non-intrusive way to document what lives in these colorful reefs and ledges of sponges, soft corals and limestone. This project is funded by the Tampa Bay Environmental Restoration Fund.
